Description

Good and Evil. Saints and Sinners. Right and Wrong. Nice and Nasty. Our world is full of these vague but deeply meaningful terms. This course explores some basic issues, ideas and theories in moral philosophy including objectivity, subjectivity, religion, evolution, selfishness, and amorality vs. immorality.  We will cheerfully discuss these terms, whether we can really justify their use and what the consequences might be by trying to doing so.

Michael Couch has been teaching community education courses for over a decade. With an academic background in Philosophy, Classical Studies, Education and History, Michael recently completed his PhD in the History of Philosophy of Education in New Zealand. He enjoys learning new topics and incorporates passion and wry humour into all the courses he teaches.
