Description

Ethics is often considered to not just be a matter for discussion but for application in the real world. We should be good, do the right thing, and so forth. This course looks at a range of modern situations and issue, and we will discuss a range of matters from torturing to save lives, to human rights vs animal rights, to euthanasia and drug laws, to invasions of other nations, and to censorship and paternalism (‘it’s all for your own good’).

Michael Couch has been teaching community education courses for over a decade. With an academic background in Philosophy, Classical Studies, Education and History, he recently completed his PhD in the History of Philosophy of Education in New Zealand. He enjoys learning new topics and incorporates passion and wry humour into all the courses he teaches.
