Description

How well do we reason? Why can some people argue really well? How can two fully reasonable people fundamentally disagree over moral issues? Why do we sometimes face arguments that feel wrong but we don't know why? Where does our thinking go wrong? This course will explore different types of mistakes and errors in reasoning, as well as the ways that people try to deliberately deceive us as we continue to reflect on past, present and future issues.

Michael Couch has been teaching community education courses for over a decade. With an academic background in Philosophy, Classical Studies, Education and History, Michael recently completed his PhD in the History of Philosophy of Education in New Zealand. He enjoys learning new topics and incorporates passion and wry humour into all the courses he teaches.
