PHILOSOPHY OF PEACE

Starts 13th November, 10-12, 5 Wednesdays, $60

Description

What is peace? What types of peace are there? Is peace something in itself or just the absence of war?   History is sometimes described as a history of conflicts, as we regularly name and study wars and battles as major turning events. However, as the centuries pass the very nature, purpose and consequences of peace has also changed to reflect new diplomatic realities. In this course we consider some of the relatively few importantly named peaces in history - what led to them, what they addresses, their strengths and flaws, and then what followed.
