This course is suitable for people who have had a go at solving cryptic crosswords and would like some tools to apply to get more success. Many people say “I’m not clever enough to do cryptic crosswords”, when what they really mean is “Nobody has shown me how.” In the 4 sessions, we’ll cover the clue types, how to recognise and solve them, and hints and tips for when you’re stuck. There will be lots of opportunity to practise during the sessions, and homework to reinforce what you’ve learnt. The course is run by Wendy Wethey, who is the current cryptic crossword setter for the Listener and has published two compilations of 52 crosswords in book form, with a third coming out later this year. Please note there is no class on 28th October as its labour day.
